Biography on Dr. Paul Devantier:
Paul (the only name by which he has ever been known on the radio program) has been the voice of By The Way since 1974. The internationally syndicated daily program, produced at KFUO Radio in St. Louis, is heard on more than 400 radio stations and on the Internet. Three booklets of selected By The Way messages have been published. In addition to By The Way, Dr. Paul Devantier’s career has included managing radio stations, national publications, and satellite networks. He has been a writer, producer, director, talent and executive producer for numerous radio and television programs. He
served as executive director of communications for The Lutheran Church –
Missouri Synod. Paul was selected to be the national director of an adoption
awareness effort initiated by the United States Congress, and currently is a
Senior Vice-President at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis.
In their personal lives, Paul and his wife, Ellen, have been very involved in child
welfare and adoption-related activities. The Devantier family, including three
children who were adopted, has been a foster family for more than 80 foster
children. Paul holds a Master’s Degree in Mass Communication from
Southern Illinois University, a Master of Divinity Degree from Concordia
Seminary, St. Louis, and a Doctor of Letters Degree from Concordia University,
Nebraska. Paul and his wife, Ellen, have 5 children – Richard, John, Andrew, Katie and Susan.
